Blogger Robert Alai was Tuesday morning charged with two counts, including treachery and disclosure of information, contrary to the Prevention of Terrorism Act.
Milimani Principal Magistrate Francis Andayi termed the charges as “serious”, saying they could attract a life sentence.
Alai, who has been in custody since June 19, is accused of sharing gory photographs of police officers, who were killed after an improvised explosive device went off in Wajir on June 14.
The law enforcement agents died while pursuing attackers who had raided a village in Konton and kidnapped three Kenya Police Reserve officers.

Alai’s lawyer, Paul Muite, pleaded with the court to release his client on a “manageable” bail term.
Muite said Alai needed to reunite with his young family. The prosecution, on their part, did not object Alai’s release on bail conditions.
He was released on a cash bail of 300, 000 shillings or a bond of 500, 000 shillings. The case will be mentioned on July 16, 2018 and a hearing will follow on August 8, 2019.
Meanwhile, a robbery with violence suspect was Monday night arrested at Umoja 1 and a stolen motor vehicle recovered following an operation by detectives from the Directorate of Criminal investigations.
The Detectives, acting on intelligence, intercepted and nabbed the suspect who was driving the Toyota Prado VX in the company of three armed men.
The robbery had been committed in a residential house along Hamisi Road in Kileleshwa on 27th June 2019.
The suspects accosted the car owner and ransacked her house before making away with the vehicle. A report was made at Kileleshwa Police Station.
Bank Credit Cards, Business cards and other personal documents of the victim were also found in the suspect’s wallet. Investigations into the matter are on-going.
