Kirinyaga deputy governor Peter Ndambiri has hit out at his boss Ann Waiguru for using politics as a scapegoat to avoid accountability.

Ndambiri said it was the responsibility of the county assembly to keep the governor on her toes and carry an oversight role to the Executive.

Speaking at a funeral at Mwea constituency on Thursday, July 2, the deputy governor also accused Waiguru of being selective in her development projects in various wards.

Ndambiri said MCAs who were opposed to the county boss had been left out in her development agenda.

“It’s (ward reps) their responsibility to play an oversight role for the Executive,” he said.

The two Kirinyaga leaders have been in protected battles.

This came a week after the Senate exonerated Waiguru of all the allegations the assembly had levelled against her for her removal.

The Cleophas Malala-led special committee said in its report findings that allegations which Waiguru was facing were not substantiated thus failed the threshold for removal.

Kirinyaga MCAs had voted to remove the county boss over gross violation of procurement laws, mismanagement of public funds as well as abuse of office.

Further, the Malala team noted there was bad blood between the governor and the county assembly and called for a truce.

The county chief said she was a target because of her support to the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI).
