Arsenal's chances of finishing in the top this campaign suffered a major set back following their 1-1 draw against Brighton over the weekend.
A goal each from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Glenn Murray from the spot saw both sides share the spoils at the end of the day.
Meanwhile, in spite of their failure to improve their hopes of playing Champions League football next term, they were able to set one unwanted record for themselves.
The north Londoners have been branded the Premier League biggest divers this season as reported by SunSport.
This record surfaced after Sokratis Papastathopoulos was booked for simulation while the game was in progress at the Emirates Stadium.
The 30-year-old subsequently earned his 12th yellow card of the campaign and became the most-booked player in a single season in Arsenal's history.
His record (yellow cards) has contributed to the north Londoners' shocking disciplinary record, who are second for most yellow cards this year with 71.
Coach Unai Emery's men are however leading the way in terms of diving, with Sokratis the fifth Gunners' star to be punished for taking a tumble during Arsenal's fight for top-four.
The Greek defender dived barely five minutes after Nacho Monreal won a spot kick which handed the Gunners the lead via Aubameyang earlier in the game.
Sokratis now joins Alexandre Lacazette, Granit Xhaka, Shkodran Mustafi and Matteo Guendouzi as Arsenal stars who have been found guilty of the offence.
Meanwhile, Mustafi is incidentally the Premier League's chief offender with two yellows for diving after he was also penalised in the 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace.
And he is joined by Southampton's Pierre-Emile Højbjerg as the only other players this season to be pulled up for cheating twice after he dramatically fell against Leicester and Manchester City.
Tottenham Hotspur rank second with the most dived offences having being punished four times this season for attempting to con the law.
Huddersfield and Southampton followed the north London rivals with two yellow cards each for diving during the course of this season.
