Tammy Abraham’s first half goal and Ross Barkley's thunderous strike helped Chelsea beat Barcelona 2-1, at the ongoing pre-season tournament – Rakuten Cup on Tuesday, July 23, in Japan.
The encounter saw new Barcelona signing Antoine Griezmann in the starting XI as the Spanish champions kicked-off their 2019-20 pre-season at the Saitama Stadium in Saitama, Japan.

Both teams were keen to dictate the pace of the game, with Barcelona opting for their trademark possession play, but Chelsea players were up for the challenge and thwarted Barca's plans.

Tammy Abraham put the Blues ahead in the 33rd minute when careless defending gifted Jorginho with a fortunate assist that found the 21-year-old with only the keeper to beat.

In the second half, Chelsea increased their lead in the 80th minute, with Ross Barkley netting the second for the Blues.
But in the 90th minute mark, Ivan Rakitic reduced the deficit for Barcelona as Chelsea held on to claim a 2-1 victory at the blast of the final whistle.
