President Uhuru Kenyatta came under heavy attack by disgruntled Kandara Member of Parliament Alice Wahome who expressed her displeasure at the current state of affairs within the Jubilee party.
Addressing the press today (14 Jul 2020), Wahome who was recently kicked out of the Justice and Legal Affairs Committee where she was the chairperson slammed the President for her sacking.
Wahome warned the head of state to be very careful of the members he is planning to appoint to replace DP Ruto’s allies who found themselves in the cold after being kicked out of several committees.
The lawmaker lamented that Jubilee is getting a raw deal by sharing its positions with the opposition as was witnessed during the recent purge in Jubilee.
“The governance structure according to our constitution has the majority and minority. I want to advise the president against allowing the appointment of minority members of parliament into the positions which we in the majority lost,” stated Wahome
This comes two weeks after the enraged Wahome and 15 other Jubilee MPs were ejected from their respective Parliamentary committees.
Among those shown the door included Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria, Laikipia Woman Representative Catherine Waruguru, Aldai MP Cornelly Serem, and Bomet Woman Representative Joyce Chepkoech Korir .
Former Budget and Appropriations Committee chair Kimani Ichung’wah was moved to the less desirable Members’ Service Committee.
The legislator termed the current reshuffling taking place with the members in the minority bagging their former posts as illegal and unconstitutional. As some of them had no performance issues in their former capacities.
