Blogger at the center of obscene video charged

A blogger believed to have circulated obscene video alleged to be of Wajir Woman representative Fatma Gedi in a compromising situation with unidentified man has been arraigned in a Kiambu court.

Douglas Mbaya was arraigned before Kiambu Senior resident Magistrate Brian Khaemba but did not take plea after prosecution through Cyber crime investigating Officer Bakhith Khaungu made an application requesting the court to allow police to continue detaining him for more questioning.

Mbaya who was arrested on 27th December will be detained for 14 more days to allow police conclude their investigations.

The suspect is expected to be charged with the offense of publishing Obscene Information in Electronic Form Contrary to Section 84D of Kenya Information and Communication Act Cap 411 A.

Police were granted permission to continue holding for 14 days to allow them obtain a forensic report on cyber report from the communication authority of Kenya and also travel to Wajir and Kakamega to arrest more suspects linked to the case.
