Africa's biggest club game between Esperance Sportive de Tunis and Wydad Athletic Casablanca went down on Friday, May 3, but was suspended midway through the second half.
According to BBC, VAR technology was once again at the helm of controversy forcing play to be stopped for well over an hour as pandemonium ensued at the final.
All hell broke loose after Wydada scored an equaliser that was controversially ruled off as offside forcing the game to come to a standstill in the 61st minute.
The Morrocan side requested for VAR but strangely enough, referee Bakary Papa Gassama did not see need to review the incident, much to the dismay of Wydada players.
However according to unconfirmed reports, the technology was not working and Wydad simply refused to continue playing, boycotting the game after staging protests.
CAF President Ahmad Ahmad eventually made his way into the pitch to consult with officials as things as tension boiled over with no one able to solve the stalemate.
And after 75 minutes of deliberations, Tunis were declared the Champions after winning the final 2-1 on aggregate after Wydad were considered to have forfeited the match.
