Citizen TV senior political affairs reporter Stephen Letoo has come under fire from a section of netizens after savagely telling off his fans.
On Wednesday evening, the journalist shared a poster indicating that Cotu Secretary-General Francis Atwoli would be hosted by his colleague Jeff Koinange.
Some of his fans said they were not interested, noting the Citizen TV hosts the veteran unionist so often.
They said the station had become and campaign tool for ODM leader Raila Odinga in his quest to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta. Atwoli is a close confidant of the former Prime Minister and a critic of Deputy President William Ruto.
“I used to watch Citizen TV, but nowadays you just campaigning for Raila. I don’t like it anymore. Shame on you,” a social media user by the name Jackson Orino wrote.
Letto harshly dismissed the fan, telling him: “Even you start campaigning for your wife in the house.”
Another netizen, Yadan Draxler was also told off in a similar fashion after he trolled Letoo boss, SK Macharia.
“We will be watching a football match. SK Macharia will watch the show alone,” he said.
Letoo responded: “Stop using your head as a saliva dispenser.”
Some Facebook users were not happy with the husky-voiced reporter and advised him to respect the opinions of his fans, disagree respectfully or block those he feels have crossed the red line.
“That’s low of you Letoo. They may use you today and show you the door tomorrow. How dare use such words? How is the comment related to his wife? Withdraw the sentiments,” Joh Nyamache wrote.
In recent weeks, the scribe has criticised for sounding partial his reports.
He has been assigned to cover Raila’s political events across the country and some fans claim that his reporting is biased, accusing him of only taking the positive angle.
SK Macharia, the owner of Royal Media Services, is a friend and supporter of the opposition boss and has been accompanying Raila in most of the tours that Letto has been covering.
