But seven minutes later, Donny van de Beek, netted a vital equalizer for Ajax to see both sides end the first stanza 1-1.

The second half saw a different Ajax side that continued to improve with every minute of the game despite the chants from Juve fans in the stands.

With 23 minutes of play left on the clock, Matthijs de Ligt silenced the Allianz Arena, with Ajax' second goal on the night.

VAR came into play in a couple of instance of the game with Juventus getting a penalty claim denied in the dying minutes of the game to steal away any hopes of them edging out Ajax.

Indeed, it was the deciding moment of the game as Juventus needed to scores two more goals without conceding again to progress to the semis.

Despite the numerous chances Ajax held on to claim a precious 3-2 aggregate win after the nail biting affair.

The result sees Ajax progress to the semi-final round of the Champions League at the expense of Ronaldo's Juventus.
