Charity Ngilu: I Can’t Stomach More of DP Ruto Lies, I Just Switch Off My TV

Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu has cautioned Kenyans against trusting Deputy President William Ruto with the presidency next year.

Addressing delegates from the Ukambani region in Makueni during ODM leader Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja forum, the county boss said electing the DP next to succeed President Kenyatta will be the worst political mistake in the country’s history.

Ngilu remarked that the second in command’s “greed” for power saw him begin pre-mature presidential campaigns rather than support his boss to actualize the pledges they made to Kenyans in 2013 and 2017.

The former Lands Minister claimed that Dr. Ruto’s 2022 campaigns were full of lies and chest-thumping.

“We must avoid this man at all cost. In 2013 he promised to deliver laptops to our children, but now he is promising wheelbarrows to graduates. He is a man we cannot trust with our future.

“Personally, I’m so fed up with his lies. Every time he appears on my TV, I just switch it off and wait until he finishes. I can’t listen to a person who tells lies over and over again,” she said.

She added that Kenya would be safe in hands of the former Prime Minister and implored the Kamba nation to rally behind the opposition boss.

“Raila is a person who loves unity. I’ve worked with him before and I know he means well for this country. He brought Kenya together in 2002 when he endorsed retired President Mwai Kibaki and he is doing it again in 2022,” the governor said.

The AU High Representative on Roads and Infrastructure was hosted in Ukambani by Ngilu and her Makueni and Machakos counterparts, Kivutha Kibwana and Alfred Mutua, respectively.

Kibwana said 2022 is the moment Kenya will be liberated through Raila’s presidency.

Raila’s Azimio la Umoja chapter in the Lower Eastern region has raised political temperatures in the area.

Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, the region’s kingpin, and his allies expressed their dissatisfaction for not being sidelined by the former Premier. Kalonzo was Raila’s running mate in the 2013 and 2017 presidential races.

The former Vice-President felt that failure by the opposition leader to involve him in his tour amounted to contempt.

However, Raila said he closed ranks with the governors because they are willing to work with him unconditionally.
