Naivasha High Court has acquitted Eric Musila, a police officer accused of killing his wife and popular Kalenjin Musician Diana Chelele in 2016.
Musila whose case was transferred from the High Court in Kericho had denied killing Chelele on the 7th of January 2016 in Kapkwen Bomet County.
In the Friday afternoon ruling, the judge cited poor investigations and weak evidence presented.
Judge Richard Mwongo noted that the prosecution had failed to fill many gaps in the case adding that it was unsafe for the court to convict the accused based on the adduced evidence.

A sister to the deceased Beatrice Cheney who spoke on behalf of the family expressed shock at the ruling saying they had been optimistic that justice would prevail.
Chelele’s mutilated body was discovered at her home in Bomet two days after her disappearance on January 7, 2016.
The late Chelele had earlier been implicated alongside her husband in 2012 for the cold blood murder of an Eldoret-based surveyor, Eliud Kipchirchir, but she was murdered before the case was concluded.
Musila had, however, been found guilty for the murder of the surveyor by a Kisumu court on the 9th of April 2019 and given 14 days to appeal the ruling.
