Court postpones judgement on Garissa University terror attack suspects

The court has postponed the judgement on four Garissa University terror suspects to June 18.

The suspects, Mohamed Abikar, Hassan Edin Hassan, Sahal Diriy and Tanzanian Rashid Charles Mberesero they had been charged with conspiracy to kill 144 students, four security officers and two employees of the university.

Chief Magistrate Andayi Thursday said ruling was not ready.

Elsewhere, Parents in Lamu have been blamed for giving their children a free reign over the use of social media with most of them not knowing that terror cells have adopted the social media as a recruitment tool.

Speaking in Lamu during a Counter Violent Extremism (CVE) forum held at Mwanarafa hall, Dr. Mjaid Athman, a consultant with Kiunga Youth Bunge noted that, parents need to be aware of their children’s social media activities.

Athman added that terror cells have adapted social media websites as recruiting grounds for new followers.

He further urged members of the public to be more forthcoming with information that will prevent terror attacks in future.
