Kenya’s Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe on has announced that four new cases of Covid-19 cases had been confirmed in Kenya.

The announcement was made on Sunday 29th March, at the Harambee House, Kenya’s seat of power.
Of the four new cases; one is a Kenyan and three foreigners from America, Cameroon and Burkina Faso.

The announcement brings the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 42, with a rise in 4 over the last 24 hours, further noting that the tracing of 1,426 contacts is ongoing.
He stated that 2,050 people are in mandatory quarantine over coronavirus in 14 centres and warned Kenyans against spreading fake statistics.

The Cabinet Secretary further alluded to controversial comments made by MP John Kiarie, accusing the lawmaker of spreading misinformation.
Mp KJ has claimed that his constituency alone had 7,000 people incaes quarantine and that the government was lying to Kenyans regarding the real situation of the disease.

“It is unethical for anyone, more so one purporting to be a leader, to misinform Kenyans for any reason.” he asserted.
“We are expanding the capacity in counties and asking everybody to think ahead together. This is a Kenyan issue and every Kenyan should be onboard,” he said.

He also said employers must release their employees in good time to meet the curfew time of 7pm or else prepare accommodation for them.

In addition, he announced plans to manufacture protective gear including masks in the country as opposed to importing them.
CS Kagwe further announced that they would continue to hire medical personnel as was necessary.
“We’ll be adding an additional 1,000 workers soon but it is important to note that we do not have a shortage of medical personnel. There is a process and we will be hiring them as need arises,” Kagwe noted.
