The national Covid-19 death toll has exceeded the 4,000 mark after 30 more patients succumbed to the virus, bringing to 4,025 the total number of confirmed deaths.
In a statement issued in Nairobi on Wednesday, 4th August, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi revealed that one of the deaths occurred in the last 24 hours, while 29 are late reports from facility record audits in July and August.
Kagwe also reported 1,335 new infections from the 7,605 samples tested, raising the caseload to 206,691. The cumulative number of samples tested so far stands at 2,156,981. The country’s Covid-19 positivity rate is at 17.5 per cent.
Of the cases, 1,293 are Kenyans while 42 are foreigners, with 655 being males and 680 females. The youngest is an eight-month-old infant and the oldest is 105.
Some 1,093 patients have recovered from the disease, 983 from the home-based care programme, while 110 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 191,188.
There are 1,587 patients admitted to various health facilities countrywide while 4,125 others are on home-based isolation and care.
At the same time, 178 patients are in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), 43 are on ventilatory support, and 118 are on supplemental oxygen while 17 patients are under observation.
Another 441 patients are on supplementary oxygen with 397 of them in the general wards while 44 patients are in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).
