The Ministry of Health has confirmed 565 new Covid-19 cases, raising the national tally to 235,863.
In a press statement issued on Tuesday, 31st August, Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe said the cases were detected from the 4,494 samples tested within the same period, bringing the total to 2,371,571. The country’s positivity rate is at 12.6 per cent.
From the cases, 554 are Kenyans while 11 are foreigners, 273 are males and 292 are females. The youngest is an 11-month-old infant while the oldest is 95.
He confirmed that 1,280 patients have recovered from the disease, 1,062 from the home-based and isolation care while 218 are from various health facilities. The total number of recoveries now stands at 223,637.
The Covid-19 death toll rose to 4,726 after six more patients succumbed.
