CS Amina Mohamed takes over from sacked Echesa

New Sports, Culture and Heritage Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed on Tuesday morning officially took over from her predecessor CS Rashid Echesa in a short handover ceremony at the ministry’s headquarters at Kencom House, Nairobi.

Echesa thanked President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto for considering him amongst 50 million Kenyans to serve in the country in the capacity of a CS.

He wished CS Amb Amina the best in her new role.

Earlier this month in the Executive Order issued from State House, President Uhuru Kenyatta fired Sports Cabinet Secretary Rashid Echesa and replaced him with Amina Mohammed.

Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) Chairman George Magoha was nominated to replace Amina.

Six other Principal Secretaries were also re-assigned namely Susan N. Mochache, CBS-Ministry of Health Mr. Ali Noor Ismail, CBS-State Department of Cooperatives Dr. Ibrahim M. Mohamed, CBS-State Department of Environment and Forestry Eng. Peter Kiplagat Tum, OGW-State Department of Labour Dr. Margaret Mwakima, CBS-State Department of East African Community Affairs (EAC) Dr. Susan Koech-State Department of Wildlife.

Mrs. Fatuma Hirsi was also fired as a Principal Secretary State Department of Broadcasting and Telecommunication.

The President said the changes were aimed at enhancing efficiency, transparency and accountability at all levels of Government through a governance structure and leadership that ensures rapid delivery of public services to Kenyans in every part of the Republic.
