DAILY POST: Daggers drawn as RUTO storms Mombasa State House over MATIANGI‘s appointment – UHURU never consulted him 05:50 Wednesday January 23, 2019 - Deputy President William Ruto is currently heading to Mombasa for a private meeting with President Uhuru Kenyatta who is resting at the Mombasa State House.
According to an impeccable source, Ruto was supposed to go for a function in Rift Valley but changed his plan after the appointment of Interior Cabinet Secretary, Fred Matiangi, as Chief Minister. Ruto who has been traversing the country over the weekend launching development projects will no longer need to “tanga tanga” because development conceptualization, monitoring, implementation and evaluation will be done in the grassroots. Sources said Ruto was not consulted over Matiangi’s appointment and he was very angry when going to Mombasa. “He was not consulted and he learnt about the appointment in the media like any other Kenyan,” said a source at the DP‘s office.

Matiangi, who is the most hardworking CS in Uhuru’s Cabinet was named on Tuesday as the Chairman of the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee.

In his new position, Matiangi will now be chairing meetings that bring together all Cabinet Secretaries, Attorney General, Paul Kihara and the Head of Civil Service, Joseph Kinyua. Matiangi’s new position will make Ruto a lame duck Deputy President.
