Devolution CS: Gov't officials to be liable for loss of relief supplies - KBC

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Eugene Wamalwa has warned government officials and individuals handling relief supplies meant for drought victims in the Country that they will be held accountable for any loss of consignments especially food.

Wamalwa who toured Mogotio, Baringo County Devolution said it is vital that every Kenyan affected by drought accesses aid as intended.

Wamalwa reiterated that the government was working round the clock to ensure every Kenyan affected by drought benefits.

His sentiments come as Sigor Member of Parliament Peter Lochakapong appealed to the national government to distribute relief food to affected residents in his constituency.

According to the legislator, the most affected residents are those living along the borders of West Pokot and Turkana counties.

Lochakapong said more food donations are needed to cater for the large population even as he urged county governments to put in place measures to mitigate effects of drought in the future.
