Over 500 venerable people on Tuesday received food donations distributed by the county government of Nyeri.
The beneficiaries were drawn from different groups, which consist of the elderly, hawkers, and barmaids among others.
Speaking when he launched the disbursement the Nyeri Governor, Mutahi Kahiga said that the donations were channeled to his office from well-wishers.
Kahiga added that over 10,000 needy families will benefit with from food and the first batch will go to over 3,000 families in Nyeri Central sub-county and will extend to other sub-counties.
He further said the donations will go a long way to sustain vulnerable families.
