DP Ruto’s Home Town Comes to Standstill as Raila Visits Eldoret, Oscar Sudi Mobilises Locals

Thousands of residents in Eldoret town in Uasin Gishu County lined up in the streets to welcome ODM leader Raila Odinga in Deputy President William Ruto’s political bedroom.

Photos seen by Litkenya.com show the streets of the busy town fully packed and some businesses closed.

Interestingly, Dr. Ruto’s close confidant and Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi is among those who mobilised the locals to turn up in large to receive the former Prime Minister.

“We must embrace mature politics. I want all residents of Eldoret to welcome baba and hear his agenda. Sell your manifesto without fear because here we love visitors,” Sudi said.

Addressing the mammoth crowd, Raila pledged to help maize farmers in Rift Valley get better returns if elected to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta next year.

“I have discussed with delegates of this region how we can improve maize farming. We will ensure farmers get seeds and fertilisers at affordable prices. We will also fight cartels,” he said.

In addition, the African Union (AU) Special Envoy on Roads and Infrastructure said his government would address challenges facing dairy farming.

On education and health, the ex-Premier said proper policies would be put in place to ensure the two sectors offer the best services.

“We know Kenyans are suffering because there is no affordable healthcare. I want to tell you that my administration will guarantee quality healthcare for all.

“We also want our children to get decent jobs when they finish school. A wheelbarrow is not a tool that can empower a graduate. Don’t accept to be deceived again, in 2013 Ruto promised our children laptops, but now he is offering wheelbarrows,” he said.
