Eight people dead in matatu-oil tank collision at Chepsir : The Standard

The accident has caused traffic snarl-up along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway.
Eight people have died in a grisly road accident at Chepsir along the Kericho-Nakuru Highway. The accident involved a 14-seater matatu and a truck carrying gas cylinders. Kericho Base Commander Michael Kahare confirmed the deaths in the preliminary report. The accident occurred around 6:30PM.

The head on collision occurred  after the trailer which was traveling from Kisumu going towards Nakuru swerved from its lane hitting the matutu which was travelling towards the opposite direction. James Mugera, the Kericho County Police Commander said five passengers in the matatu died on the spot while one more victim died on the way to Kericho District hospital. Nine others who were injured are being treated at the hospital.
