Lawyers are currently voting to elect a male representative to join the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Some 10,185 lawyers across the country are participating in the exercise.
The elections, which are taking place in 36 polling stations (law courts) across the country, are being conducted by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC).
The contesting candidates include Njeru Macharia, Professor Tom Ojienda and lawyer Charles Ongoto.

The Law Society of Kenya says the main tallying centre will be at the LSK Secretariat in Lavington, Nairobi. On Wednesday, Human rights lawyer Gathii Irungu pulled out of the race, saying he had informed the LSK of his decision.
The lawyer said most of his supporters in the society had urged him to drop his bid for various reasons.
On Wednesday,Lawyer Gathii Irungu from Kiambu withdrew his candidature from the elections.Through a press briefing in Kiambu Town, the Lawyer said he has been a firm fighter for human rights, good governance, judicial independence and rule of law.
He said that through consultations from his supporters and other reasons he had decided to withdraw from the race.
