Form Two Student Bailed Out as He Takes Cock to Pay School Fees

Lady luck has smiled on a 15-year-old Form Two student, who stunned all recently by turning up with a cock in exchange for some of his outstanding school fees at a school in Trans Nzoia County.

Saboti MP Caleb Amisi offered to pay the fees for Martin Simiyu, a student at Holy Trinity Secondary School, who had impressed netizens with his dedication to learning.

Martin, who had been sent home for fees, was photographed carrying a cock to school to be allowed into class. 

He had a fee balance of Ksh34,000 and the cock was valued at Ksh1,000. The needy student also shocked the principal, Charles Ong’ayo, after he had been asked to bring anything valuable from home that could be sold to clear his fee balance. 

“I wanted to go back to school and since the only exchangeable asset I could get at home was the cockerel, I decided to take it there so I could be allowed to continue learning for a while.”

His plight caught MP Amisi’s attention, earning him a bursary through the National Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

This was in sharp contrast to the arrival of a Form One student at Maranda School in Siaya County in a chopper, which was captured on a video that went viral. The boy, it was later turned out, had been dropped off to school by ODM leader Raila Odinga in his helicopter. The opposition leader was reportedly sponsoring the boy, who was said to be the son of one of his aides.
