Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohamed has once again reiterated the Government’s commitment, to develop and renovate existing Stadia in the country.
Earlier this year, the ministry promised Kenyans that renovations at the Nyayo National Stadium were nearing completion, and it remains to be seen whether the ministry shall indeed honour its word, to reopen the stadium in May after close to two years of closure.
A month after visiting the Nyayo National Stadium which is currently undergoing renovations, Sports Cabinet Secretary Amina Mohammed, accompanied by Principal Secretary, Peter Kaberia, on Monday inspected the Kasarani Stadium, to access what more needs to be done to improve it.
While refuting claims that the government has not done enough in rehabilitating stadia in the country, Amina expressed her satisfaction with the maintenance of the stadium, insisting it’s key in optimizing sports in the country.

Elsewhere, Mandera County officially launched the inaugural Ward football tournament Monday night in an event that was graced by the area Deputy Governor Mohammed Rai.
The tournament that will bring together 282 teams across the 30 wards in the county is aimed at sensitizing the youth on how to counter violent extremism.
Savayo Fc settled for a 2-2 draw with Young Stars in the first match opener that was played at Mandera town grounds.
The tournament will culminate after the Easter Holiday where winners will receive cash awards and trophies.
