Hilarious Reactions as MP Alice Wahome Sweats Trying to Explain ‘Bottom-Up’ Model

Kandara MP Alice Wahome was at pains this morning, 28th July, to explain a slogan Deputy President William Ruto’s allies have been popularising.

Appearing on Citizen TV’s breakfast show, Wahome was asked to define in simple terms what ‘bottom-up’ economic model that DP Ruto is marketing means.

She took the challenge but flopped badly.

“It’s by working from the bottoms down…yeah you know…from top to bottom,” she said.

The interviewer, Sam Gituku, also asked her to explain whoa ‘hustler’ is.

“You know 85 per cent of Kenyans are hustlers. These are people who have been forgotten,” she said.

The lawmaker was pressed further to break down how DP Ruto would change the lives of the so-called ‘hustlers’ if he becomes President next year.

“For example let’s talk about a boda boda rider. We will reduce taxes for him or even decide not to tax him at all. You know this is a person, who is aspiring to own his vehicle or a supermarket some day,” she said.

Critics capitalised on Wahome’s alleged cluelessness to mock the ‘bottom-up’ approach and its champions.

The anti-Ruto online brigade stormed social media platforms claiming that the Tangatanga team was engaging in “empty sloganeering”.

However, DP Ruto’s economic strategist, David Ndii, came to the defence of Wahome, saying people should stop magnifying small issues.
