How Alex Mwakideu Helped Brother Land TV Job in Germany

Celebrated Milele FM presenter, Alex Mwakideu, has revealed that he played a central role in helping his brother, Chrispine Mwakideu, land a job at the Duestche Welle (DW) TV station in Germany.

Chrispine has been serving at the international media house for more than a decade since joining in 2008.

Speaking during a recent interview on Churchill Show, Mwakideu noted that his brother was currently stationed in Accra, Ghana, working for DW.

He further indicated that he used his contacts to get Chrispine into the media house after the brother flew to Germany to visit him.

“Right now, Chris is in Accra, Ghana. He works in Duestche Welle in Germany. He is married to a German but he went to Accra as an expatriate.

“You know I worked in Germany. When I was there, he (Chris) came to visit me. You know we Kenyans also have contacts, we are clever and when my contract ended, I connected him,” stated Alex.

When asked why he did not consider renewing his contract, Mwakideu noted that the pay from the international broadcaster was not as lucrative as it is in Kenya.

“There is no money in Germany. The white people did not have money. Don’t be cheated. I get money in Kenya. I can just go to visit,” he added.

Chrispine, since joining the global media community, has kept his personal life under the radar.

At DW, the award-winning journalist rose up the ranks to become an editor by 2010 and a trainer of new employees by 2018.

He has been attached to the station’s programme known as Learning by Ear, which is a multimedia learning program for Africa.

Chrispine also racked up skills in playwrighting, acting and puppeteering. His skills have taken him to many events around the world, starting with home country Kenya, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Spain, Finland, Austria, Belgium, Iran, Poland, and Germany.

In 2009, the journalist won the International Broadcasting Award for his play ”Family Affairs – How to become a political player”.
