- Last season, John McGinn helped Aston Villa to get promotion to the Premier League
Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has reportedly told the Red Devils' chiefs to sign Aston Villa midfielder John McGinn before the transfer window closes.
Last season in the Championship, McGinn was superb for his club, helping them earn promotion to the Premier League.
Ferguson has a say at Manchester United and is lobbying hard for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer to land the fiery midfielder this summer.
According to a UK Sun report, Sir Alex Ferguson and the player's gran dad Jack are close friends.
Ferguson is of the view that McGinn will be of great importance for Manchester United in the midfield where they lack his kind of energy and goal threat.
But the Old Trafford landlords will have to table a massive sum of £50 million for them to have the possibility of signing John.
However, the Ferguson's approval of the 24-year-old may be enough to convince United eggheads the midfielder is worth the money.
And with France international Paul Pogba on the verge of leaving Manchester United, the Red Devils will need a good replacement for the ex Juventus star.
