Kakamega Senator, Cleophas Malala, has been called upon by the National Cohesion and Integration Commission (NCIC) to give statements on why he vowed to obstruct a meeting by Raila Odinga and Francis Atwoli scheduled for December 31 at Bukhungu Stadium in Kakamega County.
NCIC told off the Senator for terming Kakamega as his bedroom, pointing out that all politicians were allowed to transverse all parts of the country without seeking permission from an individual.
“Kenya has no bedrooms and living rooms for any politician, and there is no space for locking out other politicians from any political side from any part of the country,” the NCIC Boss Samuel Kobia said in a statement.
“These summons also mean that Malala is now a prime candidate for inclusion in the wall of shame; as well as facing the full force of the law.”
Kobia further assured Kenyans that NCIC is tasked with the monitoring of political figures who are aimed at giving utterances that divide the country into tribal allegiances adding that they will not be cleared by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) for them to run for their desired political seats in 2022.
The reaction by NCIC comes days after Malala made a speech at the Vihiga Cultural Festival, which was attended by One Kenya Alliance (OKA) co-principals Moses Wetangula and ANC party leader Musalia Mudavadi.
“I want to say there is no meeting in Bukhungu Stadium on the 31st. We don’t want brokers in Luhya politics,” Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala said then.
“The worst part of it is that they will say Raila Tosha. Why don’t you go and do it in Kondele or Siaya? Kakamega is a no go zone.”
The main agenda of the Azimio la Umoja rally is to discuss the Luhya unity and to bring the Luhya nation together, behind Raila Odinga as he sets his sight on the Presidency in the 2022 General Elections.
