Veteran Lawyer Dr John Khaminwa has challenged the President Uhuru Kenyatta to strongly consider opening the country as the partial lock-down date ends today. In a press statement sent to the newsrooms over the weekend, Khaminwa argued deaths are inevitable and Kenyans will for sure celebrate the announcement of the opening. The Nairobi based lawyer acknowledged we are in a catch 22 situation but said the stand to lose more lives if the economy is not opened. Khaminwa shocked citizens when he added that Kenyans should not be denied to be sick or to die. The President is expected to make an address to the nation later on this afternoon. Below is the full statement that was shared by Nelson Havi, the President of the Law Society of Kenya (LSK). PRESS RELEASE By Dr. John M. Khaminwa LL.D, DD Let our President open the Country on Monday 6TH July, 2020. We are planning to celebrate his announcement. Deaths are inevitable. Collapse of the economy will cause more unpredictable hardship leading to numerous deaths and fear of failed state scenario. This is a catch 22 situation. Let us not forget the emerging two International Rights, the right to be sick and the right to die. This case gives us an opportunity, although difficult to appreciate that death is inevitable and the doctrine of hard work as ordained by God must always prevail. The Government cannot be expected to police lives of 50 Million people. No Government has the resources to undertake such a gigantic exercise. It is the responsibility of each one of us to look after ourselves. Of course in the extreme human cases due to extreme poverty or physical disability, there will always be a helping hand from the Government. President Magufuli has given us a lead. Let us emulate him and follow footsteps of our big brother in Tanzania whom we admire as a respected African Statesman. DATED AT NAIROBI this 4TH day of JULY 2020.

Dr John M Khaminwa LLD, DD has requested that I convey this message to His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta and the entire Kenyan Public on need to open the Country. I don’t know what you guys have to say. Remember, I am just but a messenger. ^DoS pic.twitter.com/xIbedeBhQ9
