Key Points in Uhuru’s 16th Address on Coronavirus Pandemic – LitKenya

President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday, 29th June, made his 16th address on the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Head of State chiefly stressed the need for Kenyans to continue observing the coronavirus preventive measures.

Some of the key points in his address include:

1. Prohibition of public gatherings extended for another 60 days;

2. Funerals to be conducted within 96 hours upon confirmation of death;

3. Only a maximum of 100 attendees for burials and weddings;

4. One visitor per patient, per day, in hospitals;

5.Voluntary Covid-19 mass vaccination rollout in July;

6. Ban on public political gatherings extended for another 60 days;

7. Extension of the curfew for a further 60 days; and

8. Government to procure 10 million doses of the American-made Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
