Senator Wamatangi during a senate committee meeting.
Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi on Sunday, March 13, joined the Kenya Kwanza during a highly charged rally at the Thika Stadium.
The Senator became the third Senate Majority Whip to leave the Jubilee Party over the last two years. Last year, Wamatangi was elevated to the position after the removal of Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata.
Kang’ata had served in office for about seven months after succeeding Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika who was ousted for associating with Deputy President William Ruto. All three politicians are now supporting the DP’s camp.
The Kiambu Senator is eyeing the Kiambu Gubernatorial seat although his exact party of choice was not immediately clear.
Tujibebe Wakenya Party Leader William Kabogo also joined the Kenya Kwanza Alliance at the Thika Rally.
He will be competing against Chama Cha Kazi Party Leader Moses Kuria, Kabogo and Thika Town Member of Parliament Jungle Wainaina.
