Lionel Messi has hinted that he will not retire from international football after his country's 2-0 defeat by Brazil in the semifinal of the 2019 Copa America.

There have been suggestions after the defeat that the Barcelona star could hang his international boots as his nightmare of winning a title with Argentina continues.

Messi will be 35 when the next World Cup will be played in 2022 in Qatar and there have been concerns that the Argentine may not have enough energy to help his country.

The Barcelona captain has now made it clear that he is not ready to quit international football and also confirmed his readiness to help his nation win titles.

''Something new is on the horizon. The truth is I have got on very well with this group of players and if I have to help in some way I will," Messi said according to Daily Mail.
"This is a great group which is growing and if I can join them I will,'' he added.

Meanwhile, it was earlier reported how Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni explained that his wards deserved to beat rivals Brazil in the semifinal of the 2019 Copa America which they lost 2-0 on Wednesday morning, July 3.

Scaloni's men had their chances in Belo Horizonte, but fell after goals from Manchester City striker Gabriel Jesus and Liverpool's Roberto Firmino for Brazil.

Sergio Aguero and Lionel Messi hit the woodwork for Scaloni's side who enjoyed plenty of possession after the hosts opted to sit back having gone 1-0 up.
