Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has hinted at the possibility of his party leader, Musalia Mudavadi, unveiling a new powerful coalition.

Mudavadi’s Amani National Congress (ANC) will hold its National Delegates Conference (NDC) at the Bomas of Kenya on Sunday, January 23.

The Senator, while speaking at the venue stated that ANC had lined up political “friends” who shall be unveiled at the event. He added that the allies are Mudavadi’s like-minded politicians.

“We are not only going to launch Mudavadi’s presidential campaign but also disclose his political allies. All Kenyans of goodwill and those who share our political ideology are invited,” the Senator stated.

Malala did not shy away from warning the party’s rivals from attending the Bomas event.

“We have not invited our competitors. This NDC is only for ANC and her political friends,” Malala reiterated.

“Being alive to the fact that we are going into a battle, we need to prepare enough to handle our opponents. We cannot, therefore, invite the same competitors to our strategy meeting,” Malala emphasized.

The Senator, who is eyeing the Kakamega Governor position, also stated that ANC will subsequently embark on countrywide campaigns to popularise Mudavadi as the best option for the August 9 elections.

“Our plan is also to demystify the narrative of a two-horse race. It has been a false narrative that we cannot allow. Kenyans need hope,” Malala went on.

Among those believed to have been invited is the National Assembly Speaker, Justine Muturi, who was recently pictured with Mudavadi at his home.

One Kenya Alliance co-principals, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Moses Wetangula (Ford-Kenya) and Gideon Moi (Kanu) are also in line to attend the NDC.

The trio, however, has not yet announced whether they would turn up, with reporters indicating that they differed on party ideologies and policies.

Kalonzo and Moi were endorsed by their respective parties, Wiper and KANU respectively, to run for the presidency.

Deputy President William Ruto and his allies may also attend the event.  Ruto has been seeking Mudavadi’s support and even attended Malala’s football tournament finals in Mumias, Kakamega County to woo the ANC party leader.

Orange Democratic Movement leader, Raila Odinga, was not invited to the event.
