Mali Ends Kenya’s World Cup Dream After Home Defeat

National soccer team Harambee Stars was on Sunday, 10th October, beaten 1-0 by Mali in Group E’s 2022 World Cup qualifying match played at Nyayo National Stadium in Nairobi.

Mali striker Ibrahima Kone, who bagged a hattrick in the first leg, scored the goal in the 55th minute.

The defeat ended Kenya’s 2022 World Cup dream as they trail Group E with two points from four matches.

Mali remain top of the group with 10 points. Only group winners will proceed to the final qualifying round.

Uganda, who beat Rwanda 1-0 in Kampala, are second with eight points and will face leaders Mali for a place in the next qualifying round.

Kenya and Rwanda and are out of the qualifiers with two matches left to play.
