World record holder, Mary Keitany, has opened up about her meeting with Pope Francis in Vatican, on Tuesday, April 30.
Despite finishing fifth in this year's edition of the London Marathon on Sunday, April 28, the celebrated athlete took time off her schedule to attend a church service at Vatican presided over by the Pope.

It was during her stay in Rome when she linked up with the first Jesuit Pope, in the company of her husband, Charles Koech, and their two children.
Speaking to Nation, Keitany admitted she was gladdened to meet the head of the Catholic church, disclosing she was not anticipating the meeting.
"I thought I would just see him from a distance, but being able to meet him in person and shake his hand was something interesting and I would never forget in my lifetime," the four-time New York marathon champion divulged.
The 37-year old further revealed Pope challenged her and the family to work hard in their endeavours.

"He also asked my son what was his name and what we do, we told him and also explained I am an active athlete. He told us to work hard and use the talent given by God well," Keitany submitted.
Meanwhile, TUKO.co.ke previously reported Brigid Kosgei floored her Kenyan compatriots Vivian Cheruiyot and Keitany to emerge victorious during the London Marathon.
Kosgei's victory saw Kenya maintain her glory in international marathons as she set a new personal best, adding the London crown to her Chicago win in 2018.
The 25-year old clocked 2:18:19 to depose Cheruiyot who was the competition's reigning champion.
