Minister suspended for 2 months

Machakos Governor Dr. Alfred Mutua has set a new record by ruthlessly punishing one of his ministers in the latest Cabinet Reshuffle.

The no-nonsense governor cracked the whip on County Administration and Decentralised Units CEC Titus Kavila, suspending him for two months in an unprecedented move.

In the changes thar were made on Friday, 17 Jul 2020, the county boss also issued a warning letter to the Economic Planning and External Resources Mobilization Chief Officer, Romana Mwende.

Kavila’s troubles began in March 2020 when the governor read the riot act to his ministers before serving him with a warning letter.

In the dress-down, Mutua accused some of his officials of laziness, adding that his administration would not tolerate the habit.

“Government decisions and executive directives must be obeyed and carried out to the letter. Altering them to fit one’s personal agenda or self-serving interpretation will not be tolerated,” Mutua stated at the time.

In the changes that were announced today, Trade Industrialization and Innovation CEC Francis Mwaka has been moved to the Tourism, Youth, Sports and Culture docket with Lazarus Kivuva taking over the slot.

Roads, Transport and Public Works CEC Morris Omuyoma has been moved to the Water, Irrigation, Environment and Natural Resources with Naomi Mutie replaced him at the Roads docket. 

Ruth Nduku who was previously in charge of the Tourism docket has been transferred to the Education, Skills Training and Social Welfare docket.
