A section of teachers in private primary schools in Mombasa have welcomed the recent assurance by President Uhuru Kenyatta that the government will ensure 100 percent transition to secondary schools.
Those interviewed said the move will ensure those who finish primary education will be able to progress to the next level without hitches regardless of marks attained.
Maryjoy Kindergarten and primary school principal Karen Osumba said the push for 100 percent transition will ensure high secondary school enrolment and help the many young learners to realize their full potential.
Senior teacher Dickens Kaduki commended the ministry of education and other stakeholders for conducting KCPE and KCSE national examinations successfully.

On the other hand Boniface Maticha of St. Irene primary school said private schools are determined to help the ministry of education to achieve 100 percent transition policy.
He said they are happy as teachers that their pupils will secure a slot in secondary schools regardless of their performance.
The teachers who were speaking during a farewell party hosted for those who finished their primary education this year said the assurances of the 100 percent transition will reduce exam malpractices and cheating aces across the country.
The president assured that every child who sat for Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examination is admitted to secondary school under the 100 per cent transition policy to make sure that all Kenyan children get basic education until Form Four.
