Matiang’i’s new role may have usurped DP Ruto’s powers and has been interpreted as a game changer ahead of the 2022 succession politics. Reacting to the news, Elgeyo Marakwet Senator, Kipchumba Murkomen, who is one of DP Ruto’s most trusted lieutenants, posted a sarcastic tweet indicating that there could be jitters in the Ruto camp. Taking to twitter, Murkome wrote: “Congratulations to President @UKenyatta for the Exec Order 1 of 2019 &to my friends CSs "Dr.Matiangi & Rotich for the additional responsibilities.We look forward to a more co-ordinated service delivery&greater accountability to the people of Kenya.
