New coach? Changes in the starting 11? Same old outcome.
Not even the arrival of new coach Salim Babu at Western Stima could bring to a halt the power men's poor run in the SportPesa Premier League as visiting Sony Sugar walked away with a comfortable 2-0 win at Moi Stadium in Kisumu on Saturday.
Saturday's match was the first for Babu after taking over on Thursday following the resignation of Paul Ogai.
Substitute Derrick Otanga scored a brace in the second half to condemn Stima to their 13th straight winless match.
Babu blamed his side's loss to poor defending.
"We conceded so easily which calls for more work on our defence so that we don't lose again," said Babu, who was facing his former employers.
"It is a great win for us being away from home. We saw how Stima were playing that why we introduced Otanga and we happy he gave us the victory," said Sony coach Patrick Odhiambo.
The early exchanges saw both sides miss clear cut chances to take the lead.
Sony's bench and their supporters were left disappointed when Robert Achema's cross from right wing on the 21st minute went begging, after his team-mates who had crowded Stima's goal-mouth failed to slot home.
Four minutes later, the host's goalkeeper Samuel Odhiambo produced a brilliant save to deny Enoch Agwanda from a free-kick.
Stima had a chance on the 37th minute when Kevin Okoth pounced on a loose ball after Mukisa Junior's free-kick had been blocked, but his rebound ballooned over the crossbar.
Luck was on Stima's side as Tobias Otieno's well-taken free-kick three minutes to the break hit the crossbar, before going wide.
The two teams introduced fresh legs after the break, Stima bringing in Hubert Kopany for Erastus Mwaniki while Sony substituted Daniel Otieno for Otanga.
Otanga would have broken the deadlock on 52 minutes, but he failed to beat goalkeeper Odhiambo on a one-on-one situation, before the custodian denied him joy from a stunning free-kick moments later.
Otanga would however not be denied on 66 minutes after outpacing two Stima defenders to beat shot-stopper Odhiambo with a lobbed effort on the left-side of the goal.
He then sealed victory for the visitors six minutes to the end when he capitalised on another defensive lapse to fire home from close range.
