New Covid-19 Cases Rise to 245,781 as 444 More Test Positive

The Ministry of Health on Friday, 17th September, confirmed 444 new Covid-19 cases in the last 24 hours, raising the national tally of infections to 245,781.

The new cases were detected from some 7,511 samples tested, bringing country’s cumulative tests to 2,486,331. The country’s positivity rate is at 5.9 per cent.

Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe announced that from the cases, 430 are Kenyans while 14 are foreigners with 242 males and 202 females. The youngest is a three-week-old infant while the oldest is 90.

He confirmed that 700 patients have recovered from the disease, 321 from the Home-Based Care Program, while 379 have been discharged from various hospitals. The total number of recoveries now stands at 236,169.

Sadly, four more patients have succumbed to the virus rising the number of deaths to 4,965.
