A looming House committee crisis that was threatening to strain the cordial working relationship between the ruling Jubilee Party and ODM has finally been eased.

The two political parties had locked horns over sharing of committee positions left vacant following dewhipping of MPs allied to Deputy President William Ruto.

National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya (left) and minority chief whip Junet Mohamed.

The ceasefire was achieved following a five-hour-long meeting between National Assembly Majority Leader Amos Kimunya and minority chief whip Junet Mohamed.

Junet noted he reached a truce with Kimunya on how the positions would be shared and allayed fears of possible fallout.

"Held a meeting with Majority Leader Hon. Amos Kimunya over House Committees. We have mutually agreed on the list, to be tabled when the House resumes next week," said Junet via his Twitter handle.
