Hundreds of passengers are stranded at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after workers allied to the Kenya Aviation Workers Union downed their tools to protest against the planned handover of management to Kenya Airways.
The Union claims that the takeover plan will lead to a loss of billions of shillings in revenue as well as massive job losses.
All flights have been grounded at the airport since 3 am despite Kenya Airports Authority declaring the strike suspended.
Meanwhile, Kenya Aviation Workers Union Secretary General Moss Ndiema has been arrested for leading protests to halt plans to hand over Kenya Airports Authority operations to Kenya Airways.
