Paul Pogba is set to be offered Man United captaincy as part of the Red Devils' strategy to keep hold of the Frenchman.

The France international has been linked with a move to join Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid next summer.

During a recent interview with the French media, Pogba admitted a move to Madrid would be "a dream" for anyone.

The comments threw his future at Old Trafford into sharp speculation, with a section of United fans taking to social media to demand for the sale of the Frenchman.

However, in an apparent move to calm the storm, Solskjaer has held private talks with the star midfielder to interrogate his future at the Manchester outfit.

The Norwegian tactician is said to have pulled Pogba aside during a training session and asked the midfielder to see him in his office.

But with present captain Antonio Valencia set to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season when his contract expires, it has opened up an opportunity to make Pogba wear the arm-band.

According to the Mirror, United are also ready to discuss the 26-year-old's long term future at the Theatre of Dreams.
