A pilot escaped unhurt after a light aircraft he was flying crash-landed at Nova Pioneer International School at Tatu City in Ruiru, Kiambu County.

Preliminary reports indicate that the aircraft’s landing gear disengaged about five minutes before landing between Limuru and Kiambu town resulting in the incident.

According to Ruiru DCIO Justus Ombati, the privately-owned Cessna 5Y-CFT was flying from Naivasha to an airstrip within Tatu City.

Reports indicate that the aircraft belongs to a mattresses-making company within the populous constituency and was being flown by a 23-year-old who was the only occupant onboard.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) in collaboration with the police have launched a probe on the Thursday 4 PM incident that caused a scare in the school and the surrounding areas.
