- Man United suffered a second Premier League defeat in a row in the hands of Man City
- The Manchester derby had been touted as a possible title-decider even as City went top on the standings
- Pogba has however once again apologised to United fans after the humbling
Manchester United's 2-0 defeat to rivals, Man City, on Wednesday night, April 24, once again forced Paul Pogba to offer an impassioned apology to fans at Old Trafford.
United were seeking to return to winning ways against their city rivals after their 4-0 weekend demolition to Everton.
The defeat at Goodinson Park prompted several United players including Pogba, David De Gea and Nemanja Matic to apologise to fans, with a promise of making amends during the Manchester derby.
They did show signs of encouragement in the first half of the Wednesday encounter as Man City struggled to find United's back of the net.
However, two second half goals from Bernado Silva and Leroy Sane sunk the Red Devils' hopes of securing any point as they lost the tie altogether.
Moments after the match, Pogba moved closer to fans at Old Trafford to applaud them as he headed towards the tunnel.
He could be seen holding one hand up in front of the Stretford End in a clear show of remorse before exiting the pitch.
The Frenchman's gesture comes days after he was slammed by United fans after their loss to the Toffees.
At the time, the former Juventus midfielder declined to acknowledge supporters despite being advised to do so by club boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Meanwhile, the defeat in the hands of their rivals left United rooted sixth on the Premier League standings with 64 points even as they push for top four finish ahead of the conclusion of the ongoing campaign.
