Rapper Kantai's family speak out after his sudden death

Late rapper Chris Kantai’s family has spoken out on the details of his death.

In an official statement sent to Kiss100.co.ke, a family member, Ashe Oleng’ revealed:

“We, the Kantai Family, wish to announce the passing of one of our own, Chris Kantai. Chris was hospitalised at St. Francis Hospital, Kasarani on Monday, February 25, suffering from acute peptic ulcers.”

Adding, “His condition deteriorated and, at dawn on Wednesday February 27, he passed away. He was 40 years old.”

Ashe added, “Chris was one of the pioneers of Kenyan hip hop, a talented musician whose work influenced a generation of musicians and inspired many in Kenya and beyond.”

She continued, “Most of all to us, he was a son, father, brother, grandfather and friend. We loved hint dearly. We greatly appreciate the support and condolences received from all of you in Kenya and the Diaspora. We are in the process of finalising his burial arrangements and will share details once this is done.”
