NAIROBI, Kenya Jan 8 – Deputy President William Ruto hosted a mega rally in Eldoret on Saturday, where he vowed to continue popularising his quest for the presidency in the August election.

The rally at Eldoret Sports Ground was attended by several leaders who subscribe to his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) who addressed a huge crowd.

The DP pledged to fulfill every promise that the Jubilee Party made in 2013 and 2017 if elected the 5th President in the August 9 election to succeed his boss, President Uhuru Kenyatta.

“I will pay the debt that we have on youth employment, healthcare, the transformation of agriculture. We have only 7 months and we will liberate this country from the hands of the oppressors. We are determined to take this country forward,” Ruto said at the rally attended by dozens of leaders from his United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party.

Ruto pointed out that Jubilee’s agenda was sabotaged by political opponents, in an apparent reference to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who shook hands with Kenyatta in March 2018 for a political partnership that edged him out.

“We are where we are now because a few of us sabotaged the big plan that we had, but I am here to say that we will not be intimidated or succumb to threats. We will fulfill what the country and the people of Kenya expect from us,” the DP said.

He reiterated that he will incorporate the Big Four Agenda and his bottom-up approach model to take the country forward and serve every Kenyan regardless of tribe, political affiliation, or religion.

He further popularized his party, the UDA party in which he intends to vie after ditching Jubilee party.

Ruto has intensified his presidential campaigns in recent months, hosting at least 40 rallies in Western and Rift Valley this week.

The DP was accompanied in the Eldoret rally by over 100 MPs allied to him and a few governors including Kirinyaga and Turkana governors Ann Waiguru and Josphat Nanok respectively.

The leaders said that they will traverse each and every part of the country to campaign for DP and ensure he clinches the presidency.

Nyali MP Mohamed Ali and his Kimilili counterpart Didmus Barasa urged Kenyans to vote for Ruto and called on their opponents to make public their agenda

“Ruto is the man that will change this country. He will be a president of all Kenyans and even the ordinary Kenyans will access all services that will be provided by his government. Please be ready to wake up early in the morning on the 9 of August to go vote for DP Ruto,” said Ali.

Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro and South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro called on all eligible voters especially the youth to turn out in large numbers on the 17th of this month and register as voters saying it will be the only weapon that will ensure the DP becomes the fifth President of Kenya

“We have so many youths who are yet to register as voters. Please do so because that is the only way you will be able to send DP Ruto to State House,” said Nyoro.
