Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Pro 2018 in Kenya gets June security update a few weeks after May update arrived

It’s not common for a device like Samsung Galaxy Grand Prime Pro 2018, also known as Samsung Galaxy J2 Pro 2018 or Galaxy J2 2018 in other markets, to receive software updates in quick succession. But it’s happening, where the device is receiving June 2019 security update a few weeks after the May 2019 security update was released.

The changelog for the new update was published earlier this week. It doesn’t mention anything more than the June security patch, but given how soon the software was released following the release of May patches late last month, it’s possible Samsung is addressing something critical in the previous update.

The Galaxy Grand Prime Pro 2018 isn’t among Samsung devices that receive monthly security updates. Rather, it’s scheduled to receive quarterly security updates, meaning after last month, the next security patch level was expected to be August 2019.

If you own the Grand Prime Pro 2018 handset, watch out for a software update with version J250FXXU2ASG1. It’s still based on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, the OS that powers the device out of the box.
