Sendy, Lami launches per-trip insurance policies for transporters

NAIROBI, Kenya, Sept 23 – Transporters in Kenya can now access customized insurance policies following a partnership between Sendy Limited and insurance firm Lami Technologies which seeks to provide simple, hassle-free, and affordable per-trip products.

Under the partnership, transporters will customize insurance products aimed at protecting them against all risks of physical loss or damage from any external cause during transit.

“The policies will be digitized on Sendy’s online freight dashboard for shipment across the country and within East Africa,” the firm said in a statement shared to newsrooms.

Founder and CEO of Sendy, Mesh Alloys said through the partnership, transportation partners will benefit from the low-cost insurance policy that will enhance their service offering.

“Through this collaboration, we will be able to take advantage of the speed and ease of digitalization while also assisting our transportation partners by adding a cutting-edge technology that will enhance efficiency to their service offering,” he said.

His counterpart at Lami, Jihan Abass added that the product is aimed at promoting the availability of freight insurance for transporters and will also connect them to a wider customer base to increase the volume of their business transactions.

The two firms said that the collaboration supports the logistic industry by digitizing access to insurance for transporters

“This partnership aims to provide transporters in Kenya with access to affordable digital insurance plans for their shipments and expand the sector’s customized insurance solutions,” the statement read in part.
