It has now emerged that Sheffield United, Premier League's new-boys, received a £3m loan from Osama Bin Laden’s family.

Sheffield United’s co-owners Kevin McCabe and Prince Abdullah bin Musa'ad bin Abdul Aziz, who is a member of the Saudi Arabia royal family, are in court battling for control of the Blades.

According to Daily Telegraph, it was disclosed that Sheffield United were handed a £3 million loan from 'Project Delta,' which was traced to the al-Qaeda founder and former leader's family.

Barrister Andreas Gledhill, Queen's Counsel (QC), who is representing Abdullah's legal team, insists McCabe knew the source of the club funding, after he was informed in a meeting in Dubai back in 2017.

"One of the investors mentioned at the meeting was Saleh Mohammed bin Laden, a Saudi businessman and part of the Bin Laden family," he said.

McCabe's disputed the claims saying he had heard the name mentioned once before but really thought nothing of it as it had never been mentioned again.

The 71-year-old McCabe and 54-year-old Abdullah met in 2013, and the two have been working together for six years after Prince Abdullah initially invested £10 million.

Earlier, TUKO.co.ke reported that Sheffield United and Norwich City gained automatic promotion into the Premier League after coming first and second respectively in the Championships.

Norwich who have been absent in the elite division in last three years, laboured to a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers to book a their spot.

The Canaries last appearance in the English top flight lasted for just a single season as they finished 19th in 2015-16 campaign under the guidance of Alex Neill.
